Student Awards:

The following are some of the recent achievements by NEXTOR graduate students:

Avijit Mukherjee, PhD student in NEXTOR at UC Berkeley, was awarded First place in the Centers of Excellence (COE) Student Paper Competition on Future Air Transportation System in 2003. His paper title was Role of Optimization Models in Future Air Traffic Management System. Avijit also earned Second place in the poster competition for his entry "Dynamic Decision Making and Optimization Methods in Future Air Traffic Management."

Tatjana Bolic, a PhD student in NEXTOR at UC Berkeley, received an honorary mention in the Centers of Excellence (COE) Student Paper Competition on Future Air Transportation System in 2003 with her paper titled Learning from Technology Insertion.

Thomas Vossen was awarded First place in the INFORMS 2003 Transportation Science Dissertation Prize Competition. He was also awarded Honorable Mention in the INFORMS 2003 Aviation Application Section Dissertation Prize Competition. Thomas recently completed his PhD at the University of Maryland under the supervision of Prof. Michael Ball. His dissertation title is Fair Allocation Methods in Air Traffic Management. He is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado.
