Course Objectives: This course is designed to provide participating students with fundamentals of product engineering and manufacturing. In order to provide the participating students with real-life industrial experience, design and manufacturing engineers from Black & Decker are invited to present a series of lectures on the product realization process. In the Fall 1996, the product will be a new type of cordless drill/driver. Special attention will be given to the inherent relationship among computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing, quality engineering, and engineering economics. Learning hands-on experience is emphasized. Students will be organized as teams, not only for participating in laboratory work, but also for completing assigned
