Download ToolKit 0.01 (November 2001)

  1. Version 0.01 of our click-and-drop UML diagram editor is available for inspection and download.

Future Work : For January 2002 -- December 2002.

  1. Identify situations where "Java-enabled diagram technology" will add value to web-based training/learning. Candidates include:

    • Step-by-step assembly procedures (e.g., for furniture assembly).

    • For signposting task-based models of design processes.

We expect that both areas will employ combination of network and hierarchy system structures -- the Java-enabled diagram technology can handle this!

  2. Reformat "small case studies" to take advantage of diagram technology. Test and evaluate the new material in academic and industry enviroments.

  3. Form alliances with industry to begin joint work on "large scale" investigations. Almost any practical application is of interest.

Future Work : Two-to-three year time frame....

  1. Store web-based training materials in databases.

  2. Explore usefulness of "semantic web" concepts for: (a) guiding students through web-based courses, and (b) dealing with semantic incompatibilities that exist in the development of Java-enabled diagrams.

  3. Generalize pathways concepts to new applications and new tools -- we are currently flushing out our ideas for this opportunity.
