[Left] [Up] [Right] Web-based Systems Engineering Training [Left] [Up] [Right]

Joint work with Industry

  1. Company ABC (1998-99). Investigated mechanisms for web-based training to support use of systems engineering tools.

  2. Company XYZ (1999). Two-day training classes in Systems Engineering given at XYZ's subsidary companys.

Need for Web-based Systems Engineering Training

  1. Learning is no longer something you do in the last semester, senior year, and that's it!

  2. Standard model of industry training is two- to five-day lecture-based classes that may be offsite.

  3. Post training follow-up is very poor.

As a result, we want to understand how to:

  1. Enhance utility of lecture-based classes by weaving web technology into class delivery and self-guided post-training instruction.

  2. Create course materials that are relevant to higher education and work-force training markets?
