Final Exam
Dear Faculty Member, We are informed that UMUC will hold its spring commencement exercises on the morning of Saturday, May 17th, at the Comcast Arena. Additionally, the College of Life Sciences will be hosting day two of the American Society for Microbiology Education Conference on campus that day. As you are scheduled to conduct a final examination on May 17th, we wanted to alert you and your students to expect campus traffic to be heavier than usual throughout the day. We are offering the following advice to faculty and students who have examinations scheduled for May 17th. 1. Plan to arrive early. * UC ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.; graduates and guests may begin to arrive on campus as early as 7:30 a.m. UC arrival traffic will probably taper off around 9:15 a.m. The ceremony will end around 12:00 noon. * The ASME Conference schedule on Saturday is from 8:30 a.m. until noon, and again from 4 to 5pm. 2. Avoid the main entrance to campus. * Plan to enter campus from the west (University Boulevard at Stadium Drive), or * the south (at the entrance located at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and Regents Drive, or * the entrance located at the intersection of Knox Road and Prinkert Drive). Commencement goers are most likely to enter campus at the main gate on the east side of campus (Baltimore Avenue at Campus Drive) or northeast gate (University Boulevard at Paint Branch Drive). 3. Plan ahead to identify the route to the parking lot you intend to access. All parking lots will be open. For a detailed description of the parking lots situated on campus, please consult the campus may located at www.inform.umd.edu/CampusInfo/About_UMCP/Maps/ Thank you in advance for your assistance and understanding, and especially for your patience.
