ISR Research Associate Dr. Xiaobo Tan is joining Michigan State University's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department as an Assistant Professor this fall.

Xiaobo's Ph.D. thesis focused on the modeling and control of hysteresis in smart materials. His faculty advisors were Professor John S. Baras (ECE/ISR) and Professor P.S. Krishnaprasad (ECE/ISR).

Xiaobo was an ISR Systems Fellow from 1998 to 2002, and has been a postdoc since September 2002, working with Dr. Baras on networked control systems. He also has been working with Asisstant Professor Reza Ghodssi (ECE/ISR) on the characterization and modeling of frictional behaviors of linear microball bearings.

Xiaobo plans to continue and further develop his research interests in modeling and control of smart materials, microsystems, and networked systems at MSU.
