Cynthia Moss named AAAS Fellow

Professor Cynthia Moss (Psychology/ISR) has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She is being recognized "for distinguished research in the field of neuroethology, particularly for studies of sensory information processing, adapative behaviors, spatial perception and memory in echolocating bats." The Fellow certificate will be presented to Moss at the AAAS annual meeting in Boston on February 16, 2013.

Moss is the fourth ISR faculty member to receive the award, joining Professor Avis Cohen (Biology/ISR) and ISR-affiliated Professors Ben Shneiderman (CS/UMIACS) and V.S. Subrahmanian (CS/UMIACS).

The AAAS is the world's largest general scientific society, founded in 1848, and includes some 262 affiliated societies and academies of science serving 10 million individuals. The tradition of AAAS fellows, who are chosen by their peers, began in 1874. The non-profit AAAS (www.aaas.org) is open to all and fulfills its mission to "advance science and serve society" through initiatives in science policy; international programs; science education; and more.
