Abstract
In this talk, we introduce some of our recent results on distributed convex optimization design of continuous-time multi-agent systems. After providing background and preliminaries, we start with distributed convex computation. Then we study some fundamental problems of distributed optmization with various constraints based on gradient and consensus. Moreover, we also extend our results to genearalized cases by considering uncertainties (such as approxiate gradients and external disturbance) and the agents with nonlinear or high order dynmics. In our study, we find a good connection between convex optimizaiton and nonlinear control.

Biography
Yiguang Hong received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Peking University, China, and the Ph.D. degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China. He is currently a Professor in Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, CAS, and serves as the Director of Key Lab of Systems and Control, CAS and the Director of the Information Technology Division, National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, CAS.  His current research interests include nonlinear control, multi-agent systems, distributed optimization and social networks. Prof. Hong serves as Editor-in-Chief of Control Theory and Technology and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Acta Automatica Sinca.   He also serves or served as Associate Editors for many journals including the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems, IEEE Control Systems Magazine, and Nonlinear Analysis: Hybrid Systems. He is a recipient of the Guang Zhaozhi Award at the Chinese Control Conference, Young Author Prize of the IFAC World Congress, Young Scientist Award of CAS, and the Youth Award for Science and Technology of China, and the National Natural Science Prize of China.   One of his papers became a Most Cited Article of Automatica during 2006-2010, with current citations over 1000 (according to google scholar).
