Description
This algorithm increases capacity by analyzing usage demographics and power consumption. It allows a network to increase HSD capacity at the expenses of the Frame Error Rate (FER) tolerance and service availability. This technique provides dynamic assignment of different levels of service availability and FER of active users. In addition, multiple power thresholds are used to improve battery life and increase network capacity. It follows that new users can /be admitted to the network while current users’ services and FER are limited but still acceptable for data transmission. Key features include (i) active power control for better battery life and increased capacity for current cellular networks; (ii) modular software that can be adapted at cellular base stations and mobile switching centers; and (iii) wide range of applications including IP telephony, video teleconferencing and web browsing.
