What's happening outside my Office Window?

Here's what's happening outside my office window.
Also see the Computer Science Instructional Center floorplans and web-cam .

April 24, 2001 : The parking lot is fenced off.
Never mind that parking is already at a premium -- let's put up another building!

May 11, 2001 : Machinery arrives to tear up the car park.
The nice tree outside my window was axed to its roots -- I don't think these construction folks belong to Greenpeace.

May 30, 2001 : Work starts on the foundation.
It's a well organized mess .....

June 25, 2001 : The foundation work continues.
Now it's a bigger well organized mess .....

July 18, 2001 : Here they are starting to pour the foundation pad.
The amount of reinforcing in the foundation pad is absolutely minimal -- just enough to prevent cracking under temperature variations, and that's it!

July 27, 2001 : The steel framing arrives.
Notice that the concrete floor slab is now finished -- it was really hot on the day they poured and the concrete mix dried in a couple of hours.

July 30, 2001 : Assembly of the steel framing begins.
This was amazing -- they put the framing up in a morning.

August 8, 2001 : Framing for the first floor is in place.
The weather's been incredibly hot. They are only working on the bulding in the mornings.

August 15, 2001 : Framing for the first floor is in place.

August 23, 2001 : .......

August 30, 2001 : .......

August 30, 2001 : .......

Note. At this point, they jack-hammered a hole in the concrete wall immediately above my office -- it's for a walkway between the buildings. This process created lots of noise and dust, and needless to say, my window was now so filthy the experiment had to be halted :(.

But then ....

October 30, 2001 : The brick layers arrived

October 31, 2001 : Amazing -- they did a whole story in one day!

February 14, 2002 : They're adding an archway support to the walkway.
The archway looks cool -- hopefully it also has some strength.

February 14, 2002 : The exterior is finished, but still lots to do on the inside.
And here it is -- kind of looks like a toolbox, doesn't it?
