Trip to New Zealand, January 2005

My parents live in Queenstown, a ski resort located in the middle of the South Island.

Bennetts Bluff is an outlook on the road between Queenstown and Glenorchy -- the mountains in the background are the real "Middle Earth" ....

The Dart river flows into the northern tip of Lake Wakatipu. We crossed the Dart river on our way to Kinloch and the Routeburn Track.

Brods bay is approximately 6 km from the beginning of the Kepler Track.

Doubtful sound is approximately 30 km long -- it is one of the major sounds in Fiordland National Park. We took a boat across lake Manapouri, and then a bus over the Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove.

Doubtful sound is the home to seals, penguins and dolphins. The dolphins enjoy interacting with the tourist/fishing boats that travel along the sound ...
