ISR is a short-term home for practicing engineers from academia, government and industry. These professionals come from across the globe to work on research projects with our faculty and students. Currently, the following people are visiting researchers at ISR.

Dr. Marian Codreanu visits ISR from Sept. 13–Nov. 15, 2008. He is a postdoctoral fellow researcher at the Center for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu. He is conducting research with Tony Ephremides on cross-layer wireless networking.

Dr. David Elliott, Professor Emeritus of Mathematical Systems at Washington University, is continuing his visit at the ISR. He is conducting research on bilinear systems and interacting with ISR students.

Dr. Robert Hoffman, Engineer at Metron Scientific Consulting, Inc., is continuing his ISR visiting appointment. He is conducting research on NEXTOR's Collaborative Decision-Making (CDM) project with Dr. Michael Ball. He will visit campus as his schedule permits.

Mr. Kensuke Iwanaga is in the midst of a 14-month stay at ISR as part of our Visiting Scholars program. He is an engineer with Honda in Saitama, Japan. He is working with Neil Goldsman on devie simulation for wide-bandgap semiconductor power devices.

Mr. Lasse Jakobsen is a Ph.D. reseaerch fellow in the Institute of Biology at the University of Southern Denmark. He is at ISR thorugh Oct. 1, conducting research with Cindy Moss on the sound beam characteristics of big brown bats as they navigate known and unknown flight routes.

Mr. Erik Johannesson, a graduate student in automatic control at Lund University in Sweden is at ISR this fall, conductig research with Nuno Martins oncontrol and estimation problems with limited communication capabilities.

Mr. Tetsuaki Nakano is an engineer at Honda R&D in Tochigi, Japan. He is conducting research with P.S. Krishnaprasad on intelligent and robust control for robotic systems.

Mr. Nikolaos Pappas, a Ph.D. student in computer science at the University of Crete, is at ISR this fall conducting research with Tony Ephremides on intelligent and robust control for robotic systems.

Dr. Vahid Ramezani, Senior Research Scientist in the Signal Processing Group of Intelligent Automation, Inc., is continuing his part-time visiting appointment. He is collaborating with Dr. Michael Fu on production/ inventory control and supply chain management. He will visit campus as his schedule permits.

Ms. Daniela Saturnino is a Ph.D. student in electrical and information engineering at the Universita degli Studi de Cassino in Italy. She is at ISR this fall working with Tony Ephremides on strategies for cooperation, contention and malicious or altruistic users in ad hoc wireless networks.

Mr. Li Sheng is a Ph.D. student in the School of Communication and Control Engineering at Kiangnan University in China. He is at ISR for a year-long stay, conduting research with ISR Director Eyad Abed.

Ms. Mariko Sugimoto is a researcher at the Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Center, Toshiba Corp., Yokohama, Japan. She is at ISR for a six-month visit, conducting research with Bill Levine on vibration control.

Mr. Quan Yuan is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He is at ISR until May 2009, conducting conduting research with ISR Director Eyad Abed on symbolic dynamics and topological horseshoe to study the chaoticity of dynamical systems.
