An Object-Oriented Approach to Implementing Global Spectral Methods

Research team

Raymond A. Adomaitis (ChE/ISR); Jiefei Huang

Accomplishment

The utility of the MWRtools library has been extended through basic research on object-oriented programming approaches to boundary-value problem based simulations. The result is a clear connection between model development, numerical solution, and simulator prediction analysis methods.

Impact

Development of trial function, discretized operator, and other object classes enables a one-to-one correspondence between the MWRtools computational modules and spectral projection solution methods. Simplifies the computational implementation of state-of-the-art model reduction methods for distributed parameter systems. Further advances the rapid-prototyping approach to simulator development. Builds directly on MWRtools.
