ENES 489P holds undergraduate systems design competition

On May 10, Professor John Baras' (ECE/ISR) capstone course ENES 489P "Hands-On Systems Engineering Projects" held its end-of-the-semester Undergraduate Systems Engineering Design Conference. Nine teams, made up of 47 students presented the results of their model-based systems engineering design projects.

The presentations and projects were judged by a distinguished panel, including Dan Rubel, director of engineering services at Textron Unmanned Systems; Steve Sutton, the former director of the ISR systems engineering education program; Aastha Verma, product and solutions architect, Project Rescue Consulting; and Jonathan Jones, train control and systems engineer, M.C. Dean, and MSSE student expected to graduate August 2018.

The top three teams were awarded prizes sponsored by Textron Unmanned Systems, M.C. Dean, and Dr. Baras, the Lockheed Martin Chair in Systems Engineering.
