Mr. Shigeru Narihiro, an engineer working on automobile engines at the Honda R&D Co. Tochigi Automobile R&D Center in Japan, conducting control theory research with ISR-affiliated Associate Professor Dave Akin (AE) and Associate Professor Robert Sanner (AE).

2004-2005

Mr. Masaaki Nagashima, a researcher at Honda Motors, Co., Ltd., worked with ISR-affiliated Professor William Levine (ECE) on improving control for automobile drivability and emissions. 

2003-2004

Mr. Morimichi Nishigaki, a researcher from Honda R&D, worked with Professor Yiannis Aloimonos (CS/UMIACS) on 3-D image reconstruction for video images. The research was conducted in the Computer Vision Laboratory of the Center for Automation Research (CfAR).

2002-2003

Mr. Takeo Yokoyama, a chassis designer in the motorcycle body design division of Honda R&D, worked with Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor David Holloway on the Future Truck program.

Mr. Yoshihiko Eguchi, a noise-damping and exhaust systems engineer in the automobile body development department of Honda R&D, worked with Mechanical Engineering Professor Kenneth Kiger on turbulence and transition in cardiovascular circulation.

2001-2002

Mr. Hirokatsu Nakaie designs chassis for scooters as an engineer with Honda Motor Co., and worked with ISR-affiliated Professor William Levine (ECE) on dynamic characterization of suspension systems in motorcycles.

Mr. Kazutomo Nishida designs electrical components for general purpose commercial engines as an engineer with Honda Motor Co. He conducted research with ISR-affiliated Professor Christopher Davis (ECE) on various projects involving sensor and control systems for general purpose engines.

2000-2001

Mr. Eiji Adachi, engineer in the Research Department of Honda R&D, conducted research with Professor Balakumar Balachandran (ME) on the dynamic analysis of a motorcycle structure via modeling and simulation.

1999-2000

Mr. Naritomo Higuchi, an automotive engineer at Honda R&D, worked with ISR Associate Professor Lung-Wen Tsai on hybrid electric vehicle transmissions. Dr. Tsai is now deceased.

Mr. Yuichi Kato, a motorcycle engineer at Honda R&D Japan worked with ISR-affiliated Professor William Levine (ECE) on motorcycle noise damping systems.

Toshiba Corporation, Japan

2007-2008

Mr. Yosuke Okamoto, engineer for the Quality Control System Technology Center in Toshiba's Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Center. He is working with Professor Yiannis Aloimonos (UMIACS) on computer vision and image processing software.

2005-2006

Mr. Tomoaki Kubo, chief research scientist for the Solution Project Group in Toshiba's Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Center, worked with Professor P.S. Krishnaprasad (ECE/ISR) and Steve Marcus (ECE/ISR) on quality control methodologies and systems.

Mr. Ko Miyauchi, a researcher in the Mechatronics Development Center at Toshiba's Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Center, worked with Professor Mohammad Modarres (ME) on reliability engineering.

2004-2005

Mr. Tomohiro Iguchi conducted research with Assistant Professor Reza Ghodssi (ECE/ISR) and Professor Gottlieb Oehrlein (MSE) of the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics (IREAP) on microelectronics process technology for advanced small optical modules using 3D silicon interposers and IC stacking technology.

Mr. Hideo Mizusawa, a Toshiba researcher, worked with Professor Michael Ball (Robert H. Smith School of Business/ISR) on a project related to production scheduling.

2002-2003

Mr. Yoshinori Shirasu, a Toshiba researcher, worked with Professor Michael Ball (Robert H. Smith School of Business/ISR) on a project related to production scheduling. 

Mr. Tomomi Ino, a research scientist at Toshiba's Quality Control System Technology Center in Yokohama, worked with Professor Gary W. Rubloff (MNE/ISR) on advanced process control system development.

2001-2002

Mr. Masahiro Kotake, Research Scientist with Toshiba Corporation, conducted research with Professor Michael Ball (Robert H. Smith School of Business/ISR) on supply chain management with the Robert H. Smith School of Business and ISR. The work originally was begun by Mr. Atsushi Takada.

Mr. Haruhiko Kondo, Research Scientist with Toshiba Corporation, Japan, worked with V.S. Subrahmanian (CS/UMIACS) on data mining algorithm development in ISR and the Computer Science Department.

Mr. Atsushi Takada spent a year working on supply chain management with Professor Michael Ball (Robert H. Smith School of Business/ISR).
