Abstract of Dr. Vest's talk
The primary product of research universities is opportunity: opportunity for individuals, regions, and nations. Our ability to provide opportunity for our nation and for our graduates will be especially dependent on the quality and forward-looking nature of engineering educations and research. Much of the exciting engineering frontier lies in work at the nano scale and in utilizing biological processes, but the frontier of large, complex systems may be even more important.
