Visualization for the People: Where Are We Now?

The Division of Information Technology, in conjunction with the Campus Visualization Partnership (CVP), is pleased to announce the first of the 2015-2016 lecture series focusing on the use of visualization in research and education.

Jean-Daniel Fekete, Senior Research Scientist at INRIA, the French National Research Institute in Computer Science, will be the featured speaker. A past member of the University of Maryland Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory, Fekete is currently on sabbatical at NYU and Harvard. In his presentation Fekete will discuss the challenges of introducing visualization to "the people" that can trigger multiple problems related to visualization literacy and interaction literacy. He will demonstrate some solutions with design guidelines that could lead to a faster adoption of visualization.

The lecture is free and lunch will be provided; however, space is limited.Please register at least two days before the lecture at http://ter.ps/vizseries1
