Institute of Neuromorphic Engineering

The Institute of Neuromorphic Engineering is an international institute "without walls" dedicated to the advancement of research and education in neuromorphic engineering.  Neuromorphic engineering is a field of research based on the design and fabrication of artificial neural systems, such as vision systems, head-eye systems, auditory processors, and autonomous robots, whose physical architecture and design principles are based on those of biological nervous systems.

The Institute of Neuromorphic Engineering (INE) is formed to promote and facilitate neuromorphic engineering through three main functions.  First, it seeks to provide seed money for researchers in various universities and institutions in numerous countries.  Researchers submit proposals for various projects within the field.  Collaborative research project proposals are reviewed and accepted based on merit.

The second main function of INE is to provide professional workshops which facilitate discourse and exchange of ideas within the neuromorphic engineering field.  The workshops advance the field by allowing detailed dissemination of research and progress.  Applicants wishing to establish workshops may submit proposals and outlines of content for review.  Funding is provided to workshops based on merit.

The third function INE supports is to promote the field of neuromorphic engineering itself.  This is a relatively new field of research and participants need a place to share information and research findings.  INE provides lectures, workshops and publications.

INE is an active participant in the annual Neuromorphic Engineering Workshop in Telluride, Colorado.
